The Vitrine

Exceptional vintage cigarette cases,
chosen by an antiquarian's eye.

What it is

A small cabinet of remarkable things

Collectors once kept their finest objects behind glass, in a vitrine. This is ours: a small, curated showcase of exceptional vintage cigarette cases. Sterling and gold, enamel and engine-turning, the work of silversmiths in London, Birmingham, Paris, Copenhagen, and beyond.

Every piece is chosen for one reason: it's unusual. A rare maker, a story, an inscription, a pattern you won't find twenty copies of. Each is presented with a short film, so you can see the hours that went into it.

The Vitrine is launching now.

For collectors

See each piece first

Our private collector list is coming soon. New pieces will be accompanied by short films and notes on what makes each one special.

For adult collectors (21+).

For dealers

A private channel for your best pieces

We work with a small number of dealers who have an eye for the exceptional. The model is simple:

  1. You name your net price.
  2. The piece stays with you until it sells.
  3. We present it with a short film to collectors who appreciate it.
  4. No listing work, no platform fees.

If you'd like to be among the first dealers, write to hello@thevitrine.club.

Who chooses

I'm Mike Shumard. I've spent years buying and selling antiques, and I once manufactured antique-reproduction fireplace mantels. Making reproductions teaches you exactly where they fall short, which is why I'm hard to fool.

I started The Vitrine because these objects deserve someone to speak for them: to explain what they are, why they matter, and how to keep them beautiful for the next owner.
